Can bed bugs infest childrens toys?

Yes, bed bugs can infest children’s toys, especially if the toys are soft, plush, or have hidden crevices where the bugs can hide.
While bed bugs prefer to stay close to sleeping areas like mattresses, they can spread to other items, including stuffed animals, toy bins, and even electronic toys if an infestation becomes severe.
If you buy secondhand toys (or have had an infestation):
- Check toys for signs of bed bugs, such as dark spots (fecal matter), shed skins, or live bugs.
- Wash machine-washable toys in hot water and dry them on high heat.
- Place non-washable toys in a sealed plastic bag and freeze them for at least 72 hours to kill bed bugs.
